In July 2009, the Kühne Foundation launched the Christine Kühne Center for Allergy Research and Education (CK-CARE), based in Davos. The main pillars of this initiative are highly qualified and well-connected research work in the field of allergies and of the atopic dermatitis and the education of medical professionals based on ongoing findings.

The aim of CK-CARE is to overcome limitations in the area of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of people suffering from allergies and to therefore make an important contribution to the sustainable well-being of patients. With locations in Davos, Augsburg and St. Gallen, clinical conditions, currently atopic dermatitis, can be researched in a unique way by a group of international experts.

The focus of the documentation and research activities today is a data- and biobank in which information and biosamples from allergic and healthy patients are collected. This enables analyses to be carried out which serve the development of new diagnostic methods, drugs and therapies. In recent years, intensive research efforts have improved the understanding of this complex disease allergy and its underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms - CK-CARE's research has made important contributions to this.
